a planet ravaged by a war that lasted an aeon. divided by thousands of centuries of war and hatred, ralltiir is one of the most tumultuous planets of the core worlds. its dark history is masked by its grand, lush beauty and its vibrant tourism. with the immigrant population in its flatlands, and the native near-human ralltiiri in its holy mountains, this beautiful planet will never fully escape its horrifying past.

RALLTIIR (raul-tear, meaning "egg-of-the-sun" in Ralltiiris) was a planet in the Ralltiir system of the Darpa sector in the Core Worlds. The second planet in orbit of the star Rallt, (rault) Ralltiir had twenty-eight moons and three continents that wrapped around the planet. A major financial center in the galactic economy, Ralltiir was a member world of the Galactic Republic but remained largely neutral in galactic politics to ensure that the finances of its inhabitants remained safe from political influences and war. Located in the Ringali Shell, a string of planets along the Perlemian Trade Route that lay near the Ringali Nebula, Ralltiir was one of the only planets in the Darpa sector to remain independent from the Esselian Empire.Besides its financial services, Ralltiir was also a major source of marble, as the planet's mountain ranges featured large deposits of marble and were riddled with quarries. Its population of 10 billion sentients was almost entirely Human.

Marred by a thousand century war, the planet of Ralltiir remains largely wrapped in mystery despite its place in the galaxy. During the great expansion of humanity in the earliest known records of the galaxy, Ralltiir remained untouched until there was a great push towards the Ringali Shell. Populated by an underdeveloped species once known as the Sataki, the expansionist humans quickly took to war with these tribalistic bipeds in an attempt to usurp their land for their own. However, the Sataki valiantly resisted their invaders for thousands of years. Later known colloquially as the Aeon War, this conflict would leave its terrible mark on both the planet, and its inhabitants, even hundreds of thousands of years into the future.Ralltiir can be separated into two distinct groups: the descendants of the human colonists, referred to as Ralltiirian, and the territorial, near-extinct Ralltiiri, the near-human reptillian descendants of the Sataki. The Ralltiirian "colonists" live exclusively in the flatlands of the planet, while the Ralltiiri take refuge in their coveted home, High Ontis, an impossibly massive range of mountains that hug the northernmost tip of the main continent. There is a great deal of discontent among these two groups, a feeling that is not often felt outside of the planet itself. Tourism is quite popular, but even the most regular of visitors hardly know anything of the conflict between the locals, nor have they ever been allowed to visit the great mountain, High Ontis.
government
the ralltiirian high council
The human colonies, and Ralltiir as a whole, is governed by a group of elected officials. There are three officials per highly populated city with a total of 12 individuals. Most laws and bills being passed require a full consensus of the council.
The Il'hani also have a hand in this system, and have two representatives on this council. In 0BBY, this entire council is assassinated quietly by Lord Tion. However, following the collapse of the Imperial Empire, the council is reestablished to govern Ralltiir once more.
the ralltiirian secretariat
An executive branch of the Ralltiirian High Council, the Secretariat had the power to veto any action taken by the High Council. This group consisted of a rotating cast of numerous civilians belonging to various cities to ensure total non-bias.
the ralltiirian military
A well structured and combat-ready military stands behind the High Council and its branches. Though sparringly used after the events of the Aeon War, these soldiers are prepared to execute any orders given to them.
the great houses of the il'hani
High Ontis is a self-governed city-state, controlled by seven "houses" of families that make up a council called the Il'hani (eel-han-ee). This group consists of seven "seats", which are filled with the heads of each house. Houses can lose or pull back from their seat, but most of these houses have remained the same throughout generations.
Some houses have been stripped of their status and quickly replaced, one of which is the Great House Trel.Historically, these seats were once filled with members of a secretive group of force-users called the Asata, but they have long since died out.

high
ontis
Population: Roughly 500-600.
Primary language: Satakis.
Points of interest: Il'hani Council Hall, Sata's Gate, Tsvi Point, Onit Square, Faan-Izrepistr.
Primary terrain: Mountainous, dense forests and undergrowth.
Climate: Warm, unusually humid.
The tallest point on Ralltiir, High Ontis, is a self-established exclusion zone atop a massive mountain chain on the northern most tip of the Kasmis continent. Populated exclusively by the reclusive, mysterious near-human species known as the Ralltiiri, this string of mountain cities is a well-protected safe haven for their slowly dwindling numbers. At the foot of this mountain sits a great deal of marshy boglands, guarded closely by Ralltiiri soldiers. Crossing of the border into Ralltiiri territory is strictly prohibited, and offenders are often shot on sight. A slim few non-Ralltiiri are allowed access to the coveted city, and even they are not easily allowed up.
Next to nothing is truly known about High Ontis. All information regarding the place has come exclusively from the Senator Pienna al Trel during her tenor on the Galactic Senate during the midst of the Clone Wars. As one of the first Ralltiiri to leave the great mountain in several hundred years, she quickly became the unofficial spokesperson for her people. What little information she revealed about her home hardly begins to unravel the mysterious mountain city, and left most with more questions than answers.Primarily, according to the Senator, High Ontis has very little in the way of modern technology, and relies mostly on archaic means of living. The people of High Ontis are highly religious, and somewhat cultish in their lifestyle. They believe strongly in a cosmic deity known as Satakal, a great serpent that came from the stars, and created their species, and fostered life as a whole on Ralltiir.

The Ralltiiri were a sentient, reptilian humanoid race native to the terrestrial planet known as Ralltiir. The Ralltiiri are a primarily isolationist race that reside exclusively on the highest point of Ralltiir, High Ontis. Rarely did Ralltiiri venture outside of their exclusion zone, as it was considered heretical to leave. They are an endangered species, with their population hovering around the few thousands. They lived in grand marble structures that were carved out from the very mountains that they lived in. As a predator species, the Ralltiiri were equipped with sharp, conical teeth, claws, and heightened senses.
the
great
houses
of
ralltiir
Great Houses once consisted of hundreds if not thousands of members due to the longevity of the Ralltiiri, but within the last few thousand years, their numbers have lessened greatly. In the past, Great Houses only consisted of the families of the same name (leaving other Ralltiiri houseless), however, in the last few thousand years, the Houses have come to consist of many families. The earliest of Ralltiiri and Sataki history speaks of the seven great houses that rule over the exalted High Ontis. There are seven powerful families of lengthy heritage, dating back to a time long before the Galactic Republic. With each of these houses (‘arlo’ or ‘riarlo’ in Ralltiiris) came a seat on the governing body of the Il’hani. Usually, the eldest member of the Great House actually took the physical seat, and weighed in on governing matters. While there are seven houses seating the Il’hani, there are nine recognized houses.
ATHI
◦
body-carers, the passers. balahn-ur.
This secretive and religious house was once charged with the duty of maintaining the Death-Peaks (Arkh-Tren) at the very top of High Ontis. In modern eras, they continue to honor this tradition. They are one of the most reclusive of the Great Houses, and are noted to always wear white. Their faces are often painted with reptilian patterns.
DAKNI
◦
blade-carriers, the honorable.
The historical protectors of the Asata. Traditionally, House Dakni was a family of knights who’s strongest would protect the Asata with their lives. However, as all the Asata are long dead, the Dakni have turned into an honor guard of sorts for the Il’hani, despite being seated on the council themselves. They are considered to be the most honorable of the Great Houses.
KEHN
◦
moor-stalkers, the waterwalkers.
As one of the earliest recorded houses, Kehn maintains a strong seat on the Il’hani. It is widely believed that the name of their house was shortened at some point, but it is unclear. This family was responsible for the incredibly dangerous task of leaving High Ontis to gather necessary supplies from the flatlands. However, High Ontis has long been self-sustaining, and the Kehn do little more now than manage resources.
MEHTIS
◦
light-bearers, satak's eyes.
It is heavily contended on whether or not Mehtis was truly the first Great House, but given its religious significance and the tasks it was once charged with, it is generally assumed to be true. They were once, and still are, keepers of the many temples dedicated to Satakal, and later, the Asata saints. They take their work very seriously, and are some of the most starkly religious of the Ralltiiri.
RENUA
◦
stone-bearers, marble layers.
Renua once had a different purpose, and a much larger meaning, but with the loss of many of the cities near the base of High Ontis, records on what Renua was once responsible for have been long lost. However, within the last few thousand years, they have taken up the mantle of marble cutters, and are generally tradeworkers. They are responsible for maintaining the many marble structures atop High Ontis.
SATI
◦
hand-traders, the traders.
Back when the Sataki had full control of Ralltiir, this family was responsible for bringing food and resources between the many cities. Their name, like House Kehn, was shortened at some point. Since the great move to High Ontis, this family has little to do in the way of trading. They now maintain the handful of markets that dot High Ontis, and occasionally do tentative business with outsiders for things that can’t be otherwise obtained atop the mountain.
SEHMET
◦
word-preservers, historians.
It is unknown when this family came to be, but they are thought to have branched off from house Mehtis long ago. Ironically enough, they are the historians of the Ralltiiri. They religiously keep and maintain a grand library in the ancient written language of the Sataki. They were once apart of the Il’hani, but several decades ago, stepped down in order to dedicate their time to chronicling what they believed to be the end times.
TREL
◦
bog-keepers, satak's martyrs.
While in recent years, House Trel has fallen from grace, they were once one of the most highly regarded of any of the Houses. historically, the Trels were the first line of defense for High Ontis, and by extension, all of the Ralltiiri / Sataki. They lived in, and near the sacred bogs that surround the foot of High Ontis, protecting it— and Ontis— from any who would dare tread near. They were considered Satakal’s favored children, and ritualistically, martyr figures. However, after their disgrace and the deaths of almost the entire family, they no longer carry the title of great house, nor are they seated on the Il’hani. It is considered a “dead house” due to only one member remaining, and her being completely infertile.
YUUN
◦
wild-tamers, the farmers.
With Ralltiir’s massive variety of wildlife and fauna, it would be foolish not to take advantage of what it had to offer. This house has, since the beginning, caught and trained wild animals for the use of the Ralltiiri. From beasts to simple herbivores, they take great care of the livestock and war mounts in their stead. This somewhat extends to the butchering and preparation of a great deal of meats provided to the community.
biology
and
appearance
Ralltiiri, for all intents and purposes, are reptiles. Most consist of about 30-40% human DNA. They are cold blooded, display partially scaled skin, and are primarily carnivorous. They are a very “long”, slender species, and are considered some of the tallest of the near-humans with average male heights being anywhere from 6 to 7 feet, and females between 5 feet to 6 feet. They have extremely hardy bodies, with durable skin and dense bone structure. They are physically stronger than most humans.Ralltiiri are capable of a wide range of non-human sounds such as chirping, clicking, hissing, purring, and bellowing. These sounds play a large part in their native language, Ralltiiris, and are a staple of communication in their culture. They are also noted for their agility, speed, and ability to go undetected. As natural predators, they are uniquely adapted to move silently, quickly, and with ease.
﹟ Typically, they have very pale skin tones, varying from a more human-like pink, to a very pale green.﹟ Most Ralltiiri have vestiges of scales on their backs, arms, and legs. These scales can range from a tough cartilaginous material, or simply being faintly colored markings.﹟ While not all Ralltiiri have hair (some are known to have feathers), it tends to be very dense, and usually darker toned in the range of extremely dark brown or pure black.﹟ Eyes are typically green, yellow, or a golden hue. They have vertically aligned pupils that expand and contract with light, as well as with particular scents. Their eye also contains a tapetum.
﹟ Nearly all of their species have tough, chitin-like nails (claws) that come to a sharp point. These claws are usually a very dark green or black, and are a point of pride among their kind. They are traditionally used as weapons, or as a means of dissecting food.﹟ They also sport 70 razor sharp conical teeth, and no molars, leaving most Ralltiiri to devour their food whole.﹟ Ralltiiri, due to their mixed genetics, are extremely prone to debilitating birth defects. 18% of children are stillborn, or die shortly afterwards. A whopping 25% of Ralltiiri are born or become sterile due to these genetic defects.

religion
The Ralltiiri are a highly religious, and primarily monotheistic society. They believe solely in an all-knowing snake god known as Satakal. They believe that the sun, Rallt, is the eye of Satakal.
( pictured: satakal the infinite )
It is believed that Satakal is their interpretation of the Force. In the observations and meditations of the ancient Sataki, they came to the correct conclusion that the force of nature that permeated everything was a sentient, cognizant entity that guided the universe as they knew it. In those ancient days, those who could perceive and wield this force were elevated above their peers, and regarded as great sages of wisdom and intellect. They were known as the Asata, meaning “Satakal-like” or “of Satakal”.These sages prevailed as the Sataki’s primary form of leadership and governance for thousands of years. Although not fully comparable to that of the Jedi Order, they were once of similar size and power. They were especially in tune with nature, and were even known to control plant life and fauna through sheer willpower. However, during the later invasion of the planet by humans, these great sages would slowly be picked off in the ensuing battles, leaving a very slim few remaining. Over the years, the Asata would die off, before eventually disappearing from the population entirely. they would live on purely in myth, and the term “Asata” would come to be a slang term for a powerful warrior. Some prolific Asata were cannonized as saints by the Sataki and Ralltiiri. These Asata came to be known as the Four Saints, and are worshipped to an equal measure of that of Satakal himself.

The Ralltiiri also believe in an afterlife — a heaven, and a purgatory. Sasmis, the heavenly realm where Satakal resides in the skies, and Tas-Kul-Pahn, the realm of purgatory that exists beneath the sea. Tas-Kul-Pahn is ruled by a dark, twisted entity known as Rihkazmos, a distorted and twisted son of Satakal. In order to reach Sasmis after death, the Ralltiiri believe that they must follow the same path Satakal took to reach Ralltiir. Their soul must scale a dangerous peak atop High Ontis, and reach Sasmis physically. In this belief, the Ralltiiri have established a religious practice known as Kijstvot,
